After a few years’ construction, Cuyahoga Falls-based Ohio Brewing Company finally opened its massive taproom and brewery at 421 E. Second Ave. in Columbus’ Milo-Grogan neighborhood. We managed to visit on its opening night on April 30 and were impressed by the space, the beers, and the food.
Ohio Brewing Company’s taproom inhabits 40,000 square feet. A long bar sits to one side while collections of tables are scattered throughout.
And the space is absolutely LOADED with Ohio paraphernalia: posters, murals, athletic logos, photos of famous Ohioans, AN AIRPLANE.
Every square inch of wall space is filled the raised photos of notable Ohio-born folks. Some were familiar, many were surprises.
Beer flights are served on Ohio-shaped (of course) trays.
I tasted the Lil Vata lager, Kulbit and Flori IPAs, Double Irish red ale, and Bowsie Irish stout.
Their draft and bottle list is rounded out with other Ohio breweries.
Non-beer drinkers will be pleased to know they feature a full bar with cocktails.
The food we sampled hit all the right notes: cheese curds, giant pretzels, salads, smashburgers, and a reuben.
Through a section of glass walls you can also spy the brewery. (And maybe Pebbles the dog if you’re lucky!)
Ohio Brewing Co. features an equally huge patio, too.
Ohio Brewing Company currently opens Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. – close, and Saturday + Sunday, 11 a.m. – close.
