Long-time fans of Columbus’ rich taco truck scene will be readily familiar with Los Potosinos. Run by Lydia Labra and her family, the truck has been a mainstay for years, establishing itself first on the west side before migrating to the King-Lincoln Bronzeville district, before going on hiatus for a time.
Just recently it reappeared on the west side before moving back to King-Lincoln on East Long Street, in an open parking lot across the street from Canabar (at Long and Monroe).
Los Potosinos serves tacos, tortas, burritos, and quesadillas…
…but their specialty is the dinner plates, especially the pollo al carbon – grilled chicken.
The plates include rice, beans, a small salad, five corn tortillas, and usually a trio of pieces of the grilled chicken.
The chicken is everything grilled chicken should be: smoky and slightly charred, with crispy skin and meat that falls off the bone. It’s simply delicious on its own or when assembled into tacos. The rice and beans are well-seasoned, too.
They grill all the chicken on site, so you’ll often be able to follow your nose to find the truck.
Their posted hours are Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (to try to catch the bar crowd from across the street).
Note that Los Potosinos is cash only, although they did accept payment via the Cash App.
