Recipe for Basic Quick Oats Porridge (serves 2-3):
1 cup quick oats
2 cups liquid (water, stock, milk)
1/2 tsp salt
*Cook on the stovetop for 2-3 minutes until a desired consistency is reached.
Savory Porridge 1:
1 cup cooked porridge
1 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp chopped chives or other fresh herbs
1 fried egg
Savory Porridge 2:
1 cup cooked porridge
1 tsp “everything but the bagel” seasoning (Trader Joes)
1-2 tsp nutritional yeast
1 tsp chili oil or hot sauce
Savory Porridge 3:
1 cup cooked porridge
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 clove garlic
1 handful fresh greens (spinach, bok choy, chard, or kale)
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Savoury oatmeal truly is a joy. Honestly, you could put an egg on any of these and it would make a perfect oatmeal for dinner option. I hope you like my savoury oatmeal recipes, I can’t wait to see what savory oats you come up with!
