Friday Food Bites: Creole2Geaux and Stories on High debut, more





There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • Creole2Geaux, which has been operating as a stall in the East Market, opens its first stand-alone restaurant at 410 N. Front St. in the Arena District on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
  • The newest eatery in the Hilton Tower, Stories on High, debuted this week. Sitting on the 28th floor, Stories on High is the city’s tallest rooftop bar and restaurant, offering 360-degree views of the city.
  • This weekend Ray Ray’s Hog Pit opens a new location for one of its trucks, parking it outside Flint Station at 225 Park Rd., just north of Worthington.
  • This week TWO new diners were announced! The first is a forthcoming Clintonville eatery called Jenny’s Diner, coming this spring to 4768 N. High St. and operated by two veterans of TeeJaye’s and Beechwold Diner.
  • The second diner coming soon is a fourth location for Delaney’s Diner, which announced it would take over the restaurant portion of the old Marshall’s Restaurant in Grandview. The bar portion is in the process of becoming Grand Tavern.
  • And then there are TWO new coffee shops coming soon! The gang from Jennings Java in the Brewery District announced they’ll be taking over Bake Me Happy’s former Merion Village space at 106 E. Moler St.
  • Also this week, Mission Coffee Co. teased its return as a retail coffee shop. Details have yet to be announced.
  • Very exciting news this week: the beloved Los Potosinos taco truck reopened after a long hiatus at 3492 Sullivant Ave. on the west side. The family-run truck is known for their pollo al carbon, wonderfully tender grilled chicken.
  • The Downtown Tavern, a new concept from the folks at the former Lola’s Kitchen, will open at 201 S. High St. downtown on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
  • Harvest Pizzeria opened a new location at 454 S. Main St. in Granville this week, across the street from Station.
  • Multiple sources have said that Cleveland-based Platform Beer Co. has shut down operations. Platform had a Columbus taproom at 408 N. Sixth St. downtown, which has been closed since 2020 after employees walked out, citing health and cleanliness concerns. Platform was sold to AB-Inbev in 2019.
  • Parable Coffee debuted its new bakery program with pastry chef Aaron Clouse this week.
  • Bleu & Fig catering company announced this week that it has closed its grab-and-go cafe inside the Jubilee Market in Franklinton.
  • Business First shared that Hot Chicken Takeover‘s next store will be at 109 N. Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. It’s set to open in early April.
  • SuperChef’s in Gahanna announced on social media that they are temporarily closed after a kitchen fire.
  • Rose Dough Donuts, which operates out of 1400 Food Lab, announced it will host Cruller Sundays , every Sunday in March. Crullers will be available for pre-order and pickup on Sundays.
  • Bear’s Bagels will be popping up at North Market Bridge Park every Wednesday-Friday in March from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Seventh Son Brewing and Franklin Park Conservatory have collaborated on a new beer called Biome, brewed with yeast derived from dragon fruit in the Conservatory’s desert biome. It will be available on draft and in cans starting on March 2; $1 from every sale goes to support the Conservatory.
  • The Hocking Hills Comfort Food Cruise returns over the next two weeks, March 4-5 and 11-12. Gets can purchase a pass for $20, then visit 12 local businesses to try samples of different comfort foods.
