Check Out Jackie O's Massive New Downtown Taproom and Patios

This past weekend Athens-based Jackie O’s Brewery finally opened its downtown Columbus outpost! The new brewery and taproom, located at 171 N. Front St., takes the place of the former Elevator Brewing.

Jackie O’s gave the building a complete overhaul, transforming the indoor space into a beautiful bar and bottle shop, while adding on 8000 square feet of patios spread over two levels.

They’ve really done a superb job with the outdoor spaces, breaking them up into different areas while creating different styles of seating, from four-top tables and cab tables…

…to long standing bars…

…to firepits with Adirondack chairs, to little alcoves with cushioned seats or swinging benches.

They really haven’t wasted a square inch, and what could have been just wide open concrete pads have instead been transformed into comfortable and dynamic spaces.

And they make beer readily available for you. In addition to the indoor bar, both outdoor levels have their own bars. Printed menus list which beers and cocktails are available at each bar.

I appreciated that each beer is available in different sizes; I found myself sampling a few different four-ounce portions of everything from double IPAs to barrel-aged stouts to pale ales.

Currently another Athens classic, Bagel Street Deli, has parked a trailer next to the patio so you can order bagel sandwiches to go with your beer. You can read more about the cart and its offerings here! And the team from Wario’s Beef & Pork is working on a new concept to open potentially in June.

And throughout the space you’ll find little nods to their Athens roots.

The indoor area is just as impressive. Near the front door off Fourth Street is a retail shop, while most of the space consists of a tall bar and a mix of tables and booths.
