There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- The South High Street location of Buckeye Donuts is expanding into the North Market Downtown, taking the empty stall near Green Olive and Fox Bagels & Deli. An opening for the donut shop is set for sometime this spring. (The spot is presumably where Dodo Donuts was previously announced.
- Chef Avishar Barua, the mind behind Joya’s Cafe and Agni, announced on social media that he will appear on the Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay next week Thursday, May 11 at 9 p.m.
- Jackie O’s on Fourth is set to officially open its Columbus taproom today – Friday, May 5 – at 3 p.m. The downtown taproom located at 171 N. Fourth St. features more than 6000 square feet of indoor space and 8000 square feet of outdoor patios spread over two levels. The taproom also currently features a cart from Bagel Street Deli, and coming this June is a new concept from Wario’s Beef & Pork.
- This week Sexton’s Pizza opened its newest location at 360 W. Third Ave. in Victorian Village. This joins locations in Hilliard and Gahanna.
- Local Cantina opened its latest location at 1644 Oak St. in the Historic Trolley District, near the CBC Beer Hall and East Market.
- After 64 years in business, Rice Bowl Chinese restaurant on the South Side will be closing at the end of this month. The restaurant is located at 2300 S. High St.
- Galla Park Social reopens today in the Short North, with an updated look, menu, and name. Formerly called Galla Park Steak, the restaurant had been closed since a car crashed into it since late last year.
- This week multiple Columbus distilleries took home awards from the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco, include a major haul from High Bank Distillery and plus Echo Spirits.
- Korean fried chicken spot 92 Chicken will add a second central Ohio location soon at 599 S. State St. in Westerville. This joins a first store in Delaware.
- Homestead Beer Co. opened its newest location at 10 S. High St. in Canal Winchester this week. This joins its locations in Heath, Newark, and Marysville.
- The Hills Market in Worthington brings back its popular pancake breakfast starting Saturday, May 6. It will run every Saturday (from 8 a.m. to noon) and Sunday (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) through late October. The price is $5 for pancakes, sausage, and coffee.
- A pop-up bakery from chef and consultant Lara Yazvac Pipa is coming this Sunday, May 7 to 2362 Summit St. in SoHud from 9 a.m. to noon.
- A location of bubble tea and boba shop Tiger Sugar is coming soon to 858 Bethel Rd.
- A Lego-themed burger pop-up called Brick Burger is coming to Columbus Oct. 14 and 15.
